Breakfast with the Family!

Today was Evan's first taste of something other than breastmilk! He sat at the breakfast table with us and had his first taste of cereal! He has been watching us like a hawk lately while we eat so I thought that since Daddy was home for breakfast, we'd try to see how he would react to some cereal. He opened his mouth immediatly and took to the spoon very well, although it took about 5 spoonfuls before he figured out to close his mouth around the spoon.. and he was actually sucking on it. He seemed to really enjoy it!

We also put him in Evie's old Tiny Steps Mini Maestro walker tonight. He played with the steering wheel a little and Evie rolled him around the house.. of course she can't stand for him to have anything until she's played with it thoroughly.. as seen below, Evie playing with HIS toys.... (I can hear my friend, Donita thinking.. "oooh, those toys look like good subjects for a picture!")

Evan was crying and was ready to get out of it, all I had to do was pick up the camera and he was ready to smile! Little silly guy!!

Vroom Vrooom!

Evie and I made a race car with her fort kit today. Evan had a fun time riding in it with her!
Ignore the chocolate mint pop tart that's all over Evie's face. LOL Funny how I don't notice those things in person, only in pictures!

And one that Evie took of Evan giving me kisses today.. What you can't see is that he's pulling me to him with his other hand.. so sweet!

Chef Evie

Evie has started taking an interest in cooking lately since she has been watching me make new recipes. She enjoys watching The Food Network and pretends to be making different dishes all of the time.
This morning she asked if she could help make breakfast so I gave her some direction and pretty ,much on her own, she made country gravy for our biscuits and she made scrambled eggs for herself. She also made Dad's plate for him, spooning the gravy over his food and served it to him on the couch. She was so proud of her meal that I snapped a picture of her plate. She has never enjoyed eating her breakfast so much.. she ate everything on her plate and then went back for another biscuit!

Now, we don't ALWAYS eat healthy or eat what we cook.. we still love McDonald's occasionaly.. Evie found a new use for her Happy Meal box. Joe thought it was hilarious and took a couple of pics!

Good Morning! Some cute pictures to share!

Just as the title of this blog states... we are having a good morning.. although Evan has a terrible cold.. the runny nose is on his last nerve and the cough has started today. Poor thing... I snapped a couple of pictures after his bath. Whatever I do to his hair when it's wet, usually stays, so this time I made a sort of mohawk, "shark fin" do... so sweet!
I have some bad lighting and terrible shadows, but you get the idea.

And this was a cute one.. he's holding his own bottle while drinking.. granted it was only for a few seconds... long enough for me to capture the photo!

And here's one of his new Christmas presents.. a soft, froggy book. He really seems to enjoy it! Usually he's eating it.. but right now, he's reading it!

He still isn't enjoying tummy time and will only roll over onto his tummy when he starts on his side, but today Evie and I put him on his tummy and got onto the floor in front of him and encouraged him to look at us. He tried to scoot toward us.. getting up on one knee and hiking his bottom up. A great first step to crawling! I'm sure it will take some time, but I think that will be my new exercise about three or four times a day in short sessions so that he doesn't get frustrated with being on his tummy.

It's a rainy old day.. so we are enjoying staying in once again. Evie is watching Shrek 3 and eating raw veggies in the sunroom.. Evan is on the floor playing with an overhead musical toy, and I'm watching Paula Dean make a yummy Taco Salad!

Hope everyone has a great day!

Christmas Part 2

What a wonderful Christmas Day! We stayed in our pjs the entire day.. Just us 4, cozy and warm. Evie opened presents right away.. Santa got her some cool stuff.. She got more clothes for her American Girl Doll, (she changed her name to "Shi-Yoon" after a friend at school)

And she got a cool fort making kit.. you can make any design you want and it's so easy! Evie is becomming the master at designing new forts.. here's the "spaceship" fort that she and I built today..

And here are a few of me and my kids on Christmas morning snuggling in bed.

So we had a great day.. Evan has a cold and was under the weather most of the day but we had fun playing games with Evie.. Memory, Operation, Polly Pocket's "Race to the Mall" race track... then a lovely dinner. Evie was sad to see the Christmas Tree come down today.. I could have left it up until New Year's like I usually do but I was ready for it to come down and to clean up some of the clutter so that the kids could actually play with their gifts. She cried.. begged me to never take it down. I had her help me rearrange the furniture in a new way when I was done so that we could suprise Daddy and that helped with the situation.

Hope everyone had a wonderful Holiday Season!

Christmas Part 1

We had Christmas at Grandma and Grandpa Hoctor's house yesterday.. Evan and Evie opened presents, (Evie opened Evan's for him).. here are pics!

Some of Evan and Evie with Grandma:

Evie got a new American Girl Doll from the "Just Like Me" series.. she named her "Evie" for the time being.. I might try to talk her into changing the name.. check out the matching pjs! The nicest quality I have seen!

And finally, one of Daddy and Evan with one of Ev's gifts.. and a couple of me with my kiddos!

Evan, Eva and I went to the mall today, Eva and I are making cookines in a bit for Santa and are going to bed early so Santa can come!!!
Then tomorrow we are having a quiet christmas here at home, just the 4 of us! How pleasant!! I'm going to make a ham with brown sugar glaze with orange marmalade and toasted walnuts.. YUM!
Merry Christmas everyone!

a New Mama

Evie wanted to feed Evan this afternoon, she's usually not one to be bothered with tasks like that. She did such a nice job, I couldn't have been more proud of how gentle and perfectly she held the bottle. He kept stopping to smile at her and then he'd continue drinking. Now she's telling him, though, "I can't hold you anymore, Evan.. the problem is that I don't like you spitting on me" LOL She just laid him on the couch.. guess I better upload these pictures and relieve her of her "Mama" duties.
