Allerton Park, What a lovely weekend!

We had the most fantastic weather this weekend!
Yesterday we went to the park here in town and then to Jupiters 2 for dinner with friends.. and today we went to Allerton Park in Monticello and to another wooden park in town close by.
The kids had a good time! The adults got some much needed sunshine!

Chef Evie and The Little Mischief Maker

Tonight, Evie helped me make dinner. She assisted with a sauce for our baby back ribs, tossed the asparagus with olive oil and salt and pepper, and shucked corn.
She was amazed when she got past the husks and hair and saw the corn.. "Where did you get this, Mommy?" I guess she never saw me shuck corn before... lol




So while Evie and I were cooking, Evan crawled from the living room into Evie's room and was getting into her drawers... here is what we found when we went looking for him...




Then I brought him into the sunroom so that he could watch tv and see us at the same time and I look over and see him pulling himself up so that he can look out the window.. the first picture was him looking out.. once he saw the flash from the camera, he looked over and flashed me a smile.





I don't think that I have babyproofed the house as well as I should have.. Evie still has small toys (Polly Pocket stuff) laying around her room and occasionally the living room and sunroom.. where Evan plays. But he is all over the house now that he is crawling.. so curious about everything in the other rooms.
I think I may have my hands full!!!

Wishing for more sun....

Today's forecast.. rainy and cold... and that's just what it has been today.
I don't get this weather here in the midwest! One day it's beautiful, the next.. freezing and rainy! YUCK!

So.. to lift my spirits, I thought I'd load some pics from a couple of days ago when it was sunny and warm and we spent some time at the park with friends!

We are mobile now!

Well.. Evan had started trying to crawl a while back.. up on the knees, rocking, scooting backwards... he always could find a way to get to where he wanted to go.. usually by some wierd sit and transfer move. LOL The past few days, he has really been making it happen... I think I was able to catch a little of that tonight on video.. it's hard to catch it when it happens because you're never prepared, and with Evan, when I have the camera out, he usually either A. wants the camera from me so bad that he gets mad.. or B. sits and smiles and just clams up!
Tonight, he was playing with Mommy and Daddy in the living room with Evie's old Little People train set. He's fascinated by that kinda stuff.. pushing buttons to make sounds, it's adorable to see him point one little finger out and flawlessly push a button to make it work. He has a cute pink Little people van that has one tiny blue button on the front that he goes for right away.. it's hilarious.. no banging on it.. just one little point. So he was doing some crawling tonight, and here's the little bit that I could capture. (Yes, I hold the record for using the word, "Little" in a post. LOL)

How cute is this? Evie used to love to watch "The Wiggles" when she was just a little baby girl, about Evan's age.. and I found this old picture of her watching it.. and then a close up..

Now.. Evan loving his favorite show, "The Backyardigans".. No matter where he is in the living room, when this show is on he scurries to the middle of the room and parks right in front of the tv.. just the way Evie used to..

Happy Mother's Day!

Mother's Day is upon us yet again! I have been a mother for 5 years! It's hard to believe.. so I made a couple of slideshows today of my kids and I.
I had trouble finding my baby pictures of Evie and I (without having to scan them), but I found some starting from when she was still a year old up until now.
Amazing how we have BOTH changed!
