My Author and Artist

My sweet Evelyn has a passion for writing short stories. Also for abstract art. She has a vampire series that she just finished writing that's three books long but the one that I want to share is the one that she wrote for her brother.   They have their rough times.. times when she says that she wishes that she didn't have a brother.. but this book lets me know just how much he means to her.  LOVE IT!

There once was a boy named Evan.  He is my brother.  He is pesty but very sweet.

I love Evan.  Oh, and my name is Evie.  Evan is the best!  Evan is awesome.

How about I tell how in a part of life we did NOT get along.  It was not nice.

Evan was mad because he was hitting me with a rake.  I took the rake and he bit me!

Now I'll tell you a time when we got along.  It was nice!

We play a game called, Kitty.  (Evan is the kitty.)  We love to play it!  He always loves

on me.  He is really nice and NO ONE can replace him!  I love Evan.

And one more thing!  I wanted to show you her very cool abstract art that she did yesterday. It's done with water colors and charcoal.  Love the shading of this dead tree.   Very cool!

Fourth Grade!!!!

Evie is growing up too fast!! She is in Mrs. Dunn's Fourth Grade class this year.. She had a short first day of school but she loves her teacher and her classmates so far. Found a cute outfit for the first day of school and Grandma Hoctor personalized and ordered a new grown up book bag for her.
Little brother was happy to pose with her and wanted to show that he was getting tall and could touch her shoulder.

Evie's a softball champ to me!

Evie just finished her second season of softball. This year was a bit different, though. She was in fast pitch with the machine pitching and will continue this for the next two seasons. Her team was ranked last place before playoffs and in the tournament bracket they beat the top ranked team! They got to play the championship game but just lost by 2 runs. It was a fantastic game filled with tons of energy. Her team was recognized on the field and got 2nd place trophies. Pool party for the team is this Sunday! Woo hoo!

Evie's Got Talent

Evie performed in the Mahomet's Got Talent show tonight and we are very proud. It was just a bunch if 3-5 graders singing, dancing along with various other things for approximately 2 minutes. Evie chose a tough song and did go off pitch but only because her nerves got the best of her. Still, singing Adele is pretty awesome! Great job, Evie!

Play Ball!

Another spring/summer season of softball is here! Evie is in third grade so she's in machine pitch softball. No more pitching from the coaches. Tonight was her first game and first experience with the machine. While she didn't hit the ball, her swing was great.. just need to work on getting the timing right. And you'd know that I got video!

Re-Vamping the Blog? YEP!

Hey all! This blog hasn't been updated in so long!! 2010 to be exact. So I figured, since I have the seperate blog for Evan.. (www.myevansjourney.blogspot.com for those of you who have been living under a rock), that I needed to re-vamp this one a bit and get some good use out of it. It now belongs mainly to Evie instead of a family blog... because let's face it, everything in the Hoctor Family revolves around one of the kids anyway. I'll try to update it regurally with little accomplishments, developments, artwork, etc. but you now how life sometimes keeps us so busy that we can slack on stuff like this from time to time.. so be patient with me! I'll let ya know when I've posted something, usually in an email or facebook, or you can subscribe and get the updates right away! Thanks for following us!!

Happy Veteran's Day

Evie's school celebrated Veteran's Day with a ceremony. We invited Grandpa to take part! You can see him on stage in this video of Evie and her schoolmates singing so beautifully.

Thanks to all of our Veterans!
