My Grandmother finally gave up last night about 9:30 pm.
She had been in a coma like state for the past week, she was really suffering before that. Her leg had not healed from the break she had gotten in the nursing home while she was rehabilitating from multiple strokes.
I am thankful that the kids and I had the chance to go down to Florida in April to see her and say, "Goodbye".
I regret that our lives take us so far away from the ones that we love, our cherished family.
I did manage to spend quite a bit of time with her in my lifetime, though. In my childhood, it seems she was around alot.. for holidays and events up until I was a teenager.

Then we moved away and later she would move in with my parents and I spent alot of time with her again.

It wasn't until I was in my 20s that I lost touch.. I sent cards and pictures, gave phone calls, but saw her when I could.

My daughter, Evie got to meet her for the first time three years ago when she was just a toddler. 2 years old. I am thankful that I took some pictures of them together.

And these pictures are from our very last visit with her..

I'll miss you, Grandma!

Happy Fourth of July!

Another 4th of July has come and gone. We had lovely weather! Finally! A summer we can brag about! In all of my years that I have lived here, it seems we skip right from freezing cold to sweltering heat. It has been in the 80s so far almost daily and with a nice breeze. Today was no exception! A perfect day to watch the parade in Urbana with friends. Evie totally loved the marching bands the most. The music and rhythm got into her soul and you could see it! I had to take a video of her "performance" with one of the marching bands...

And lastly, we went to see the fireworks at Tincup's RV Park in Mahomet just down the road from us. They always do a nice display and it's right next to Lake of The Woods' Freedomfest fireworks, so we can watch them at the same time. Not many people know about Tincup's so it's not too crowded.. we just put the tailgate seating down in the back of our van and relaxed while watching all of the displays, Tincup's being right in front of us.
I took a short video of it as well...

And some brotherly and sisterly love... the two laying on the couch together..

Hope everyone had a safe and fun Independence Day!
