Evie's first sleepover at our house!

Evie's friend, Brooklyn spent the day and night with us last night. The girls had a great time!

While they were playing in Evie's room I set up a beauty salon in the kitchen. I made a chart with prices and nail polish colors and designs for them to choose from and gave them each a baggie of Monopoly money to spend.

They each paid to have their nails polished and designs on them, beads in their hair, (Brook also got a braid), and I gave them free makeup removal, (from the mess that they did on themselves while hidden away in Evie's room), and strawberry facials (lotion) :o) Then they made bracelets while they were waiting their turn.
Afterwards they paid $5 for a movie and $2 for popcorn. Each girl still had money left over and they were excited about it!

Then it was off to bed! They fell asleep at about 8:45 with no problems.. the sweetest part was when they were almost asleep and Brooklyn turns over to Evie and says, "I'm so glad that we did this". Evie's reply was , "me too".

This morning they were up at 5 am! I had to keep reminding them that it was too early to be awake.. they had to stay in bed but they could talk if it were in a whisper.. it rose above a whisper quite a few times and I had to do the "shhhh!" sound.

For breakfast (at 6:30 am, they said that they were STARVING!) I made different shaped pancakes for them to decorate with maple and blueberry syrups, fruit and different colored sprinkles. Evan enjoyed those too!
We are hoping for good weather today although they are calling for thunderstorms.. we'd like to get to the pool! (Also, Evan has had a fever so I'm not sure that will happen anyway)
Keeping our fingers crossed on that one although the skies don't look too promising yet!

A morning at The Orpheum Children's Museum

Evan and I rarely get together with friends without big sister. Yesterday my friend, Kylla invited us to come play at the local museum. He had a great time playing with Rhylan!

Buddies playing trains together (so cool.. Ryhlan's shirt has guitars on it, Evan's got drums on his, they could start a toddler band!)

Like sand through the hourglass.. Evan's face says it all about that sand!
The kids are showing that they know how to share.. I swear! no fights at all yesterday!

I'm ready to go back!!

Daddy and his boy

AWWWWWW! Joe is out of town this weekend finishing up some recording work in Chicago.. we miss him already!

New Haircuts!

Both kids were looking a bit shaggy lately. I've actually been doing their haircuts for the past 6 months, (trying to save $$$), but I needed some help this time. I went to the cheapest place possible.. Wal*Mart. The young stylist with crazy, spiky, blood-red hair was on duty.
She did a decent job for the money and Evan especially looks like a different kid! (But in a good way!)
Evie wanted to play with his hair when we got home.. couldn't stop running her hands over his head. It's SHORT! Like BUZZED.. but his bangs are long and tonight I did a cute shark fin with them. He seems to like it. In the bath, Evie said, "I want his hair to be back to normal again" LOL I guess it has to "grow" on her!

Now for Evie's hair, we took off 3 1/2 inches! It's right at the shoulders and so cute! We cut all of her layers out and made it one length, except for the bangs, which were shortened.
It's very fresh and clean!

They look like they are ready for summer!!!

Summer is here!

>The Pool is open!!!!

Yay! It's been sunny and pretty hot here in the midwest for the past week. Today just happened to be opening day at Sholem Pool and it is Evie's favorite place in the whole world! All throughout winter and spring, she has asked, "Can we go to the pool today?" I had to keep reminding her that they don't open the pool when there's 4 inches of snow in the ground.. today I just suprised her. I told her to put on her suit and I snuck the pool bag in the van when she wasn't paying attention. I told her that we were going to a friend's house to play in the water, (in truth, we were planning that in the morning but plans fell through), and then when we pulled up to the pool and she saw that it was open, she literally freaked out! I should have thought to have the video camera ready for such a reaction. Oh well.. I at least had my camera phone handy to capture a few pictures of the first pool day of the summer!

It DID manage to rain a little but it didn't deter us.. and it seems that it did slow the attendance down some which was awesome for us!

Many more pool days to come!

Something's Fishy!

Tuna Fish... to be exact!
I cut fish shapes out of our toast and made tuna salad sandwiches. (Not the best fish shapes as they are free-hand and my first time) But not bad to say the least!
I just used a toothpick and a teeny-ist bit of ketchup for the face.
Whale shaped cheese crackers and a fruit mix were the side dishes.
The kids ate them up!!!

Princess Evan

My cute little boy this morning came out of sister Evie's room holding her princess nightgown up to himslef and twirling around and around. So I put it over his head and he put it right on! He immediatly danced around the living room in circles and laughed hysterically. Here are some pictures of him being silly and dancing.
