Well today was Evie's first day of "school". We are calling it "school" because it's a summer day camp called "Friday Funsters" and is held once a week at the place where her "preschool" will be in the fall. This is a great class to get her prepared for staying somewhere without Mommy and she has the same teachers for this day camp that she will have in the fall when she goes three full days.
She did wonderfully! I was nervous that she would be bothered by me leaving her somwhere that she knows no one, but it didn't phase her a bit. The teachers said that she managed just fine, actually leading the kids in most of the games and songs. I feel so lucky to have waited to start her in this when she is 4 years old when I know that she is "grown-up" enough to handle it without feeling seperation anxiety. She's excited for next week already, and so am I.. it's the first time Mommy has actually had time away from her as well.. (besides going to work!) On Friday mornings now, I go to an "expected mothers/baby playgroup" while she is in class and it was refreshing to attend a group without having to watch to make sure Evie is behaving! LOL
My little girl is growing up!
