That is the position that Evie is displaying in this picture.... And she was super tired after class tonight.. partly because she is under the weather with a cold and is slightly run down still, (she is on the mend, though), and the other reason is because she worked hard in class tonight showing her self defense skills and she earned her "Self Defense" stripe for her white belt!! We are so proud of her! She did an amazing job defending herself with Miss Melanie. She had to correctly fight off a "stranger" (Miss Melanie with a padded kicking shield), in the correct order and with amazing force, speed and loudly yelling her actions, she had to execute "palm! palm! elbow! elbow! knee strike! knee strike! foot stomp! Get away Stranger! You're not my Mom or Dad!" It was amazing! I didn't even recognize my kid! She has really paid attention in class and showed it tonight. Miss Melanie was knocked over by the performance, (literally!) and awarded her with her stripe.
She has her first graduation ceremony on Saturday, July 19th and will receive her orange belt. She's excited! Anyone who wants to come is invited! It's at The Vineyard Church gymnasium at 9:30 and is a huge event!

That's awesome, Evie! Man I wish we would've been there! I've seen a couple kids do that there before. Pretty neat to see! Congrats, Evie!
She WAS amazing! It was a huge class tonight, too.. it only intensified her performance.. no stage fright in that girl! Wish you could have been there! She has to compete in a tournament sometime throughout the years before she will be eligible for a black belt, I will encourage her to maybe do one a year!
