"Yes I Can!"

That's the message that Evie took home from her first class at Newberry's ATA Black Belt Academy last night.
You should see just how disciplined she was, saying "Yes Sir!" And "Yes Maam!" And doing her punches and kicks with such excitement.. she had a blast. We had no choice but to enroll her.. she just loved it and was so passionate about it, we couldn't say no.
She'll go twice a week and learn life skills such as peer pressure, handling bullies, respect towards parents, etc. etc.... as well as self defense.
She's already applied Master Jeff Newberry's rule of, "No means No" today.. Usually when I tell her "no" to something, I get asked a million times and whining.. today she simply said, "okay". Amazing the results already. I know she's a kid and she's gonna slip up from time to time, but I believe that this will really help her in so many aspects of her life already and that we are doing it at the right time.
She'll earn badges and stars for her uniform for things like minding, doing good deeds, having good grades at school and many more!

So get this.. she got to break her first board last night! She did a fantastic job! I was so proud! And got her white belt.

Master Tina Newberry - 6th Degree Black Belt, Womens World Board Breaker, on Regis and Kathy Lee. She broke 224 boards in 1 minute!
Evie really liked her.. she and her husband Master Jeff Newberry are the owners/instructors and their 19 year old daughter Ms. Melanie, who is a 3rd degree black belt, will be the one that Evie trains with the most.

We are so happy that Evie will be getting involved in something that will better her future in so many ways. Look for more blog entries in the future on her achievements!
